MORTON were honoured to send a team to play a memorial match in tribute to a teenager who tragically died in a road accident.
Manager Jim Duffy took a Ton under-20s side across to the Cowal Peninsula on Sunday to contest a charity match with Dunoon Amateurs in memory of Asten Jones, inset, who passed away in May.
Cappielow kitman Andy Bryan, a friend of Asten’s family, played a key role in organising the fundraising fixture, and it proved to be a hugely successful occasion at Dunoon Stadium with a large turnout on a beautiful sunny day.
After the match development squad captain Ruaridh Langan - who hit four goals as a youthful Morton side won 8-1 - was presented with a memorial trophy by Asten’s mum, Cathy Muir, and Alfie Close, Asten’s brother.
