NEEDY animals have benefited from the sweet success of pupils from Craigmarloch school.
Enterprising youngsters raised more than £300 for Underheugh Ark by selling sweets and popcorn to their friends.
This was inspired by a science-based project which looked at how to care for living things.
Primary 5/6 teacher Cordelia Francis said: “Children are very fond of animals so it was decided to raise money for Underheugh Ark.
“Some people may have heard about the work they do but not everyone, so the children thought it was a good idea.”
As well as selling sweets they also held a raffle with prizes kindly donated to the school.
They also used the charity’s logo on the containers of sweets to raise awareness.
Cordelia said: “We thought we might raise £100 so to raise £314 was super.”
