MOTORISTS faced rush hour chaos this morning after a crash closed the A8 in both directions between Port Glasgow and Langbank.
Traffic Scotland say that a 'multi-vehicle road traffic collision' occurred on the dual carriageway around 8.30am and warned the road would be closed for around 45 minutes.
Onlookers at the scene say they could see a white car extensively damaged on the eastbound side of the road with its airbags deployed.
Large queues quickly built up as drivers were warned to avoid the route if possible.
The westbound side of the road has since returned to normal and the eastbound side is partially reopened with cars moving along the inside lane.
No further details are available about the crash as yet.
