RESIDENTS and various organisations have joined forces to help improve parts of Greenock through the use of art.
RIG Arts launched the ‘Community Artworks’ project at an event in Auchmountain Resource Centre.
The organisation will work with people living in the Strone, Leven Road, Aberfoyle Road, Maukinhill, Pennyfern and Bow Road areas to develop arts activities to look at their aspirations and what they want to see happening in their neighbourhoods.
The project is being backed by Cloch and Oak Tree housing associations and is being funded by the European Social Fund.
At the launch event, attendees collaborated to make maps of their areas and discussed the scheme in greater detail over tea, coffee and cake.
The project will involve a series of free creative workshops and activities over the coming months.
