LITTLE learners have been spreading their wings at their fabulous revamped nursery.

Tots at Bluebird Family Centre have nestled in nicely after the centre underwent a £1.3m makeover.

The nursery in Wren Road has been transformed to include a new extension at the main entrance, re-roofing, new surfacing in the playground and soft play areas.

It has also brought all playrooms and facilities onto the one level.

Gillian McDougall, head of centre, said: “It’s fabulous.

“We have access to outdoor play, which is absolutely wonderful, and the new building is on the one level, which is very good for health and safety reasons.”

The popular nursery caters for babies up to five-years-old and has a total of 105 children on its books, with 59 in the nursery at any one time across three separate age category rooms.

Families have given the new-look centre their approval.

Gillian said: “Parents are delighted with the building.

“It makes them feel that their families are worth investing in for the future.”

Councillors were invited for a tour to see how the children and staff are enjoying their new learning environment.

Vice-convener of education Jim Clocherty said: “This will give young people the best chance throughout their lives to fulfil their potential.”

Ward councillor Tommy McVey added: “It’s a fantastic facility, it complements the whole schools estate programme and it’s open all year round.”
