TWENTY local groups are celebrating a £75,000 cash windfall from Tesco’s Bags of Help scheme.

Groups like Clyde Muirshiel, Morton Community Trust and Wellpark Children’s Centre have benefited from the pot of cash.

Some of the representatives recently visited Tesco to meet with the Greenock store’s community champion Lorella Sutherland.

Since the scheme started three years ago Tesco have also given money to Port Glasgow Boys’ Club, Langbank Primary, RIG Arts, Ardgowan Football Development, Wellington Children’s Centre and Hillend Children’s Centre.

The Bags of Help Scheme was originally funded by the 5p carrier bag scheme but now Tesco donate money.
