A GREENOCK boxer was knocked for six after meeting First Minister Nicola Sturgeon.
Notre Dame High pupil Rhys McCole was thrilled to bump into Ms Sturgeon at an event in Edinburgh — moments after meeting royal couple Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
The 16-year-old, who trains at Danny Lee’s Bawhirley Road gym, met the trio at a reception in Holyrood Palace on Tuesday.
Rhys was there in his role as a member of the Sportscotland sport panel and as a Young Scot Year of Young People ambassador for Inverclyde.
He told the Tele: “It was fantastic.
“The First Minister was really nice and took time to go round and introduce herself and speak to everyone.
“She asked about my boxing, how much I enjoy it and where I’m from.
“Prince Harry and Meghan Markle also came round, shook everybody’s hand and took time to speak to everyone — they were really nice too.
“It was a great experience to be part of.”
