POLICE were sent to a busy Greenock street as a switch to a one way system caused confusion for some motorists.
Roads bosses announced last week that vehicles would only be allowed to travel northbound on Bearhope Street between Regent Street and Royal Court.
The change prevents traffic from East Shaw Street using Bearhope Street to get to Regent Street.
It took effect yesterday and caused problems during morning rush hour as some drivers were caught unaware and had to be directed away by officers on the scene, pictured.
Inverclyde Council say road safety will be improved by removing the conflict between traffic on Regent Street and vehicles exiting Bearhope Street.
Bearhope Street remains two-way from Royal Court to East Shaw Street.
