TWO super siblings came to the rescue of their elderly neighbours during the bad weather.

Ella Flynn, eight, and her sister Cassie, 13, from Glenhuntly Terrace in Port Glasgow, traipsed through thick snow carrying heavy shopping bags full of essential items.

They delivered the goods to two frail neighbours.

Ella, who is in P4 at Newark Primary, said: “I like to help people.

“It makes me proud and happy.

“When I knocked on their doors, I asked them if they needed anything and they were very happy.”

Mum Caroline, who accompanied her daughters, says she is proud of them.

She said: “There are quite a few elderly people in our street so I was worried about how they were going to get the things they need.

“Myself, Ella and Cassie went to a few doors and two elderly ladies asked if we could pick up some food for them.

“Ella and Cassie were happy to help and I think they enjoyed it.

“We went down to the town centre and picked up things like bread, rolls and milk for them.”

After a quick pit stop at Caroline’s aunt’s home in Brown Street, the girls carried their heavy bags back up the road and dropped them off at their neighbours.

She added: “One of the ladies asked for potatoes so I brought her some from my house.”

Caroline says Ella, pictured, and Cassie, who is in S2 at Port Glasgow High, are a credit to themselves.

She said: “They are both very caring girls.”
