TRANSPORT bosses have said they will take no immediate action to upgrade the notorious A78 junction in Inverkip.
Following a visit from Transport Scotland the council have been told that they will need to make do with waiting for a roundabout to be built as part of the City Deal investment programme in the district.
Campaigners have called for urgent measures to be put in place as soon as possible following a number of accidents at the spot.
A report by Municipal Buildings bosses says: “Transport Scotland officials advised that whilst they fully recognise road safety concerns at the entrance to Inverkip from the A78 at the northern end of the village, they considered that the roundabout being progressed through the City Deal Inverkip former power station project will address road safety concerns.”
