BOGUS callers targeted a 93-year-old woman in her Greenock home.
The incident happened on Friday when two men went to the pensioner's property in South Street some time between 10.45am and 11.10am.
Police officers say the men purported to be from a company called 'Happy Valleys' and advised the woman that there was damage to her home which required repair.
The men then entered the house and whilst one man spoke to the lady the other male entered another room.
Both left empty handed but police are warning residents to be vigilant.
Sergeant Kayley Teasdale said: "Please ensure that you check ID badges and that you are completely satisfied before letting anyone into your property."
