A BRAVE youngster inspired pupils to ‘go purple’ to raise awareness about Crohn’s and colitis.

Erin Stuart, 11, attends St Michael’s in Port Glasgow and asked her head teacher if the school would mark World Inflammatory Bowel Disease(IBD) by asking children to wear the campaign colour.

Erin has been battling Crohn’s since she was eight and gave a talk on the effect it has had on her life and her journey to get better.

Head teacher Colette Wallace said: “Erin gave a talk to the whole school about how Crohn’s has affected her.

“It’s been really difficult for her at times. We are all full of admiration for her.”

The schoolgirl recently presented Councillor Robert Moran with a special pin badge for him to wear at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding, which took place on on World Inflammatory Bowel Disease Day.

The former provost was among 1,200 members of the public who were invited to the wedding at Windsor Castle.

Back home youngsters donned purple socks, ties and ribbons with their uniforms and made a donation to The Catherine McEwan Foundation.
