A PORT charity is ‘growing’ places after being awarded almost £100,000 in new funding.
The ‘Growing Together Project’, which is run by Parklea Branching Out, has received over £96,000 from the Scottish Government’s Climate Challenge Fund (CCF).
As part of the project, free support and weekly workshops will be offered at the Parklea Branching Out facilities and at local outreach venues throughout the community.
Participants will be encouraged to make low carbon food choices, raise awareness of the best ways to avoid food waste, reduce household waste and to encourage more re-use recycling.
The funding will also be used to educate people on reducing local carbon emissions and to change attitudes towards waste and climate change.
David Gunn, climate challenge fund manager at Keep Scotland Beautiful, said: “We congratulate Parklea Branching Out for securing funding from the Scottish Government’s Climate Challenge Fund and encourage the local community to take advantage of support available through the growing together project.
“We look forward to supporting Parklea Branching Out as they implement their project.”
