SUPER talented teenagers from in Greenock have created their own graphic novel about well known people from the town.

Old Greenock Characters is a collaboration written, designed and illustrated by second year pupils from Inverclyde Academy.

With support from local heritage group Magic Torch they proved themselves to be artists, scriptwriters and designers in the making.

They held a launch for their book and were thrilled to see their work in print.

Kennedy Bolton, 13, said: "It is exciting to actually hold it and I am desperate for a peak inside.

"It was a big surprise to realise we were getting the chance to produce a graphic novel.

"I love art so this was a great chance to be creative.

"It has made me think about graphic design.

"It was a fabulous experience."

Fellow second year Beth Hume took the opportunity to express herself as a scriptwriter.

She added: "It was great fun to be involved. I loved trying it out. I really like writing so this was a great opportunity for me."

Rachel O'Connor was part of the art team and says the project widened her circle of pals.

She said: "It was a brilliant way of making new friends."

School librarian Susan Morton said: "There were 20 involved and they all worked very well.

"They all supported one another and recognised one another's talents and strengths."
