THE sun was shining in Langbank as everyone celebrated the eagerly-awaited annual gala day.

The event, organised by a group of four volunteers, aims to bring the whole community together for a day of socialising and fun.

Activities included a bouncy castle and a pet show and community groups hosted stalls.

Callum Dymock and Freya Gilmore were first to cross the line in the fun runs and pets Copper and Kiera wowed judges in the prettiest dog and waggiest tail contests.

The event, which took around three months to plan, was enjoyed by people of all ages.

Jacqueline Doherty, who was part of the organising committee, was delighted with how it all went - especially after it didn’t run last year.

Organisers and the community were glad to see it back.

She said: “The sun shone and we had a few hundred people attend, everyone seemed to enjoy their day.

“It was nice to have the event back this year, people enjoyed the day socialising and relaxing.

“We organise the event because we want the children to grow up with a sense of community.

“We remember community events from when we were younger and we want others to have the same memories.

"We can see what the event means to people and we are happy to do it.”
