A MAN was taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital following a fire at a flat in Robert Street this morning.
Four engines, two from Port Glasgow Fire Station and two from Greenock Fire Station, responded to the report of a first floor flat on fire at around 7.10am.
Firefighters led the only other resident in the block from a third floor flat to safety.
He was taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital as a precaution and treated for smoke inhalation.
Crews, using breathing apparatus, extinguished the blaze, which saw the bedroom of the property badly damaged.
