A MAN has been rushed to hospital after being stabbed in Port Glasgow.

The 37-year-old was taken to Inverclyde Royal after being attacked last night.

Detectives say he was stabbed under his arm just before 8pm in Fore Street, near to Custom House Lane.

He made his way to a friend's house nearby, where emergency services were contacted.

The man remains in hospital and police are treating the incident as a serious assault.

Detective Inspector David Wagstaff of Greenock CID said: “We are appealing for anyone with information on the assault itself, or a disturbance around 7.50pm last night, to come forward.

“We do not currently have a description of the assailant.

“Anyone with information is asked to call the police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
