The Twa Dugs in Millport hasn't quite ever seen anything like it than when tv star Shane Richie marched in with revellers and joined them for an impromptu karaoke session!

The headliner from the Millport Country Music Festival was persuaded to head along to the island boozer after his superb show at the Garrison grounds.

And he broke into the Commodores classic "Easy" like Sunday morning, which was particular fitting, given it was a classic day at the Country Music fest.

The 54 year singer, actor and entertainer, who is returning to hit soap East Enders later this year to reprise his role as Alfie Moon, seemed to lap up the entertainment Millport had on offer over the weekend.

He happily posed with locals throughout the weekend, and was also involved in some 'meet and greets' with starstruck visitors, kindly arranged through the organisers of the festival.

Shane also posed with staff of The Newton Bar, and also popped into Cumbrae Community Radio Station, before his big show in which he performed numbers from his first country album 'A Country Soul'.

And he even recorded a short video thanking everyone for coming to the Country Music spectacular when getting off the ferry at Largs Slip on Monday morning.

One of the revellers Susan Hughes of Largs told the 'News': "We were just chatting to him in the tent after he did his show, and my sister in law has 'The Twa Dugs' so we invited him back for a few drinks, and he gladly obliged.

"He posed for lots of photos, and we even got him to do a song on the karaoke which was a blast.

"Shane was in excellent form and very friendly. He is a first class entertainer.

"It goes to show you that Millport is a very happening and special wee island - well done to the organisers for putting on a great show."

Shane Richie himself said afterwards: "A big thank you to everyone who attended the Millport Country Music Festival from the bottom of my heart - it was a big honour to play there. Thanks for coming."

Gavin Chittick, chairman of the festival, was delighted with 'Shane Sunday' and said: "As another year of Millport Country Music Festival comes to an end, the organising team would like to say a massive thank you to every artist, member of staff, volunteer, vendor, local organisation, business and all our country music friends that visited the Isle of Cumbrae to be part of the 2018 festival."
