KIND staff and customers at a popular Greenock bar dug deep in their pockets in aid of Ardgowan Hospice.

Chaplin's bar handed over a cheque for £4345 to the hospice after the pub rallied round to help the facility.

Over the past few months staff and customers have organised several fundraising activities including two sponsored walks, a sponsored weight loss and their annual charity day.

There was also a charity football match between Bayhome FC and Gourock St John's who are sponsored by Chaplin's.

Patricia Brogan, who is a bar maid at the Inverkip Street pub, said she is so grateful to everyone for their stellar support.

She said: "It's the most we've raised.

"I done a sponsored walk with four or five other people and some of the customers done a walk as well.

"One of the customers also done a sponsored weight loss and there was also the football match and the charity day.

"I just want to thank everyone who supported us as it's not just the staff, it's the customers too."
