Police investigating 'suspicious' death of man in Easterhouse

Emergency services were called to a flat on Durno Path, near Langbar Crescent, at around 6.50pm on Monday.

A post-mortem has yet to take place.

Police are present at the scene and a section of the street has been cordoned off.

Floral tributes have already been placed at the scene to the 38-year-old victim, named locally as Ronnie Pattison.

One of the tributes said: “Here lies a soldier. Rest easy, Ronnie boy. Fae Mackie.”

Another said: “Fly high, bro.”

Early reports suggested the man was stabbed by another male while trying to gain access to the flat.

Reports also suggested two others were injured.

Police Scotland has since confirmed a 38-year-old man died and that a 48-year-old man was injured following an incident in a house on Durno Path.

The force said police and the ambulance service were called to the property on Monday evening where both men were discovered with serious injuries.

The victim died a short time later at the scene, and the 48-year-old was taken by ambulance to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary where he was treated for his injuries before being released.

A post-mortem examination will take place in due course to establish the exact cause of death. However, police are treating the death as suspicious in the meantime.

A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman added: “A 48-year old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and police enquiries are ongoing.”

Police officers remain at the scene outside the flat which has been cordoned off.
