YOUNGSTERS were on the ball on the final night of the Gourock Youth Athletic Club Sevens Tournament.

They were inspired by a visit from professionals Greg Taylor, of Kilmarnock FC, and his team-mate Adam Frizzell, who is currently on loan to Queen of the South.

Greg and Adam were pleased to come back and help the YAC as they benefited from it when they were boys.

Robert Ahlfeld, general manager of the club, said: "Both Greg and Adam played and took part in different Gourock YAC activities for children when they were growing up and came over to support the last evening of sevens for the season.

"Greg and Adam are terrific young men and good ambassadors for their professional clubs the local community and a credit to their families."

The sevens event is organised each year over the summer to introduce and encourage children of all physical and technical abilities to participate in a friendly, non-aggressive football environment to develop skills and make friends.

Mr Ahlfeld wants to give special thanks to the YAC Sevens committee - Karen Ball, Brian Woods, Nicky McAusland and Marco Rebecchi - for sponsoring this year's event and all coaches, volunteers, parents and club sponsors and ground/ booking office staff for all their support.

Gourock YAC are also taking names of parents who are interested in Saturday morning five-a-side coaching sessions for children aged between seven and 10, starting later this month.
