FOOTBALLERS showed a goal-den touch as they played a memorial match to remember a Port schoolboy who tragically collapsed and died.

The family of Jayden Orr have been raising money since the 10-year-old's death last year as they want to install life-saving defibrillators in all local schools, with their push backed by the Telegraph's Show Some Heart campaign.

Newark Primary pupil Jayden collapsed while at ice-skating training and now his mum Kathleen and dad John want to save lives in his name.

Their latest fundraiser was a challenge match played at Lady Octavia.

It raised more than £1,000 for the cause and the family were overwhelmed by backing they received.

John, who played in the match in memory of his son, said: "I'd like to thank each and every one of the players who took part and made the day possible.

"We are very grateful to the sponsors and people who donated to the charity.

"Thank-you all from the bottom of our hearts."

Jayden's family now hope to make the game an annual event as part of their ongoing fundraising.

The family set up the charity Jayden's Rainbow in his memory and as well as the defibs drive they are bidding to change planning law so that all buildings of a certain size must have the devices.

Kathleen is now busy organising her second fundraising ball, Jayden's Winterwonderland.

She told the Tele: "There are so many people we need to thank.

"The game was an amazing day and everyone who took part really did our family proud.

"I am always amazed by the support we get from the people of Inverclyde.

"They know how to support one another and we couldn't do all of this without them."
