THE Amazon factory in Gourock has donated £1,000 to help children suffering from cancer.

The local team held a special gold themed pyjama party at the Faulds Park Centre, joining the global Go Gold movement which seeks to heighten awareness of the need for more research and support for young people battling the disease.

The event was attended by members of the Amazon team and representatives from Glasgow Children’s Hospital and the Calum's Cabin charity.

The gold PJs theme paid tribute to children who often spend long periods of time living in their pyjamas during treatment and recovery.

The Amazon team made a £1,000 donation to Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, which will be used to support the young cancer patients being treated on the Schiehallion ward at the Royal Hospital for Children.

Gavin Morrison, general manager at Amazon Gourock, said: “Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity does vital work for the children in our community and we wanted to support them and the families who rely on them with this event.

“It’s great to be able to join forces with our Amazon colleagues not only here in the UK, but around the world, as we seek to raise awareness and provide support for children and families impacted by childhood cancer.”

Tony Jones from Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity thanked the staff for all their efforts and support.

He said: “It’s been great to attend the PJammin party at Amazon in Gourock and I’d like to thank Gavin and his team for their support with this donation.

“We’re grateful that our work is being supported by the local Amazon team.

"I’d like to say a big thank-you to everyone at the local fulfilment centre for organising the party and providing this much-needed support.”
