An Inverclyde children's charity has benefited from a massive fundraising campaign by local nurseries

Enchanted Forest in Greenock and Inverkip have been part of collective effort to support Children in Poverty Inverclyde.

It is a cause close to the hearts of owners Mariessa and Bernie Devlin, who are big supporters of the local charity founded by Pat Burke.

They set their nurseries a challenge to raise as much money as they could.

At a glittering 'Greatest Showman' themed awards ceremony it was announced they'd collected more than £3,000 to help send local youngsters on holiday.

Enchanted Forest managing director Mariessa Devlin said: "It is an incredible charity and Pat does an amazing job.

"We work with children from all backgrounds.

"I think it is important that we support the community.

"We set out all our nurseries a challenge over four months to raise as much money as they could, and they didn't let us down."

Their 120-strong workforce organised activities like climbing Ben Lomond and Ben Arthur, cycling around Millport and washing cars to hit their terrific total.

Children in Poverty raises money to send hundreds of children on holiday with their families.

They also organise toys appeals at Christmas.

At the recent award ceremony, organised by the owners to recognise the achievements of their staff, the local nurseries scooped a number of accolades.

Chief executive Bernie Devlin, who lives with wife Mariessa in Inverkip, delivered a performance based on The Greatest Showman movie with local dancers from Gourock’s Dance 1 Studio.

The event was hosted by former Britain's Got Talent star Edward Reid, who had the full room on their feet and dancing the conga.

EFN managing director Mariessa added: "We are acutely aware of the incredible job our staff team do on a daily basis and our awards evening was a way of showcasing their work.

"But most of all it allowed us to celebrate together and say thank-you for all they do."

The winners were: Early Years Support Worker, Maria Moore, Enchanted Forest Greenock; Early Years Educator, Jamie Bachoo, from Inverclyde; Leader of the Year, Maria Marshall, Enchanted Forest Greenock; Enabling Environments, Enchanted Forest Inverkip; Leader without a Title, Michelle Gorman, Enchanted Forest Greenock; Top Performer, Michelle Gorman, Enchanted Forest Greenock; Manager of the Year, Jennifer Mullin, Enchanted Forest Greenock; Managing Director Award, Siobhan Black, from Inverclyde; Special Recognition, Yvonne Glass, Enchanted Forest Greenock; Nursery of the Year, Enchanted Forest Greenock.
