MORTON manager Jonatan Johansson has praised the impact of his experienced assistant Peter Houston.

The former Dundee United and Falkirk boss was appointed by the Finn as his number two last month, despite never meeting Houston beforehand.

But after glowing reviews from his footballing contacts, Johansson brought in the Scotland Under-21 assistant to the club.

While he’s been away helping the national side with their qualifying fixtures this week, the pair have been in regular contact.

And Johansson says he’s been the perfect guide for his start to life as a manager.

He told the Tele: “It’s been great having someone like Peter beside me. He’s very good at coaching and he’s good with the players.

“But he’s also focusing me at times when you get caught up sometimes and you need the experienced sensible head beside you to keep me focused on the right stuff as well.

“He’s been a great signing from the start. I’ve been really enjoying management, it’s been really hectic and challenging but in a good way.

“There have been a lot of positives and I’ve been pleased with most of the games, and working with this squad of players has been good for me.

“They’ve been a good team and they’ve got good spirit, good professionalism and you can’t ask for much more. It’s been a good experience so far.”
