A 48-YEAR-OLD man was left fighting for his life following an attempted murder in Greenock last night.
The victim was stabbed during an attack which started inside a flat and then spilled outside.
Emergency services rushed to the scene and the man was immediately taken to Inverclyde Royal.
Detective Sergeant Neil Martin of Greenock CID said: "It appears to have started in a flat in Lyle Street before ending up outside in Lynedoch Street.
"The male victim was stabbed to his torso and to his back.
"He was in a life-threatening condition when he was taken to the IRH."
The victim is now in a stable condition but remains in hospital.
Lynedoch Street was sealed off at around 6.40pm at the time of the attack.
A 38-year-old male and a 41-year-old female have been arrested in connection with the attempted murder and will face court on Monday.
