THE fireworks display at the Battery Park tonight has been called off and will not be rescheduled.
Inverclyde Council announced the decision due to the stormy weather battering the area.
The local authority says it won’t rearrange the event, which was to have an RAF theme this year.
A statement said: “After a review of the wind and weather conditions at Battery Park this morning with our firework provider we are sorry to let you know that this year’s firework show has been cancelled.
“We held off as long as we could to find a break in the weather or a significant reduction in the wind to allow the event to go ahead.
“Please continue to show your support for the Royal Air Force during this their centenary celebrations and locally in Inverclyde with our Air Force Cadets.”
