TALENTED young footballers were put through their paces at a special 'train like a pro' camp.

Morton's Community Trust ran the week-long event to give players from boys' clubs and their own youth academy a taste of things to come.

They followed the training routine of Morton's first team with sessions on attack and defence.

It was a exclusive insight into what it takes to get to the top, delivered by Ton trust coaches Blair Kelly and Laura Williamson.

Football project worker Blair, who also runs the Under 12 youth academy side, said: "It gives a real insight into life as a professional.

"All the players were of a great standard and all played for teams.

"They followed the pre-season training routine delivered at Morton.

"I think they got a lot out of it."

The Tele caught up with the potential pros in training as they took to the field of play for some sessions on ball play.

Throughout the week there were specific sessions on skills, such as delivering the killer pass.

During the week there were also sessions on the principles of defending both as a team and as a individual.

The next day they turned their attention to attack.

Some shooting practice was also thrown into the mix and the kids were taught about the kind of fitness levels that will be expected of them in the future.

During the week they also had talks delivered by the youth academy's sports scientist Cameron Deacon and their youth academy development coach Sean Crighton, a former League One title winner with Morton who now plays for Airdrie.
