A SEA of Santas will leave their sleighs behind to dash through the streets of Greenock in aid of charity.

Charity champion Tommy 'The Clown' Armstrong hopes everyone will put his December fun run on the top of their Christmas wish list.

This year's annual 5k Santa Dash is on Sunday December 9.

Organiser Tommy said: "This is for the kids more than anything, although everybody enjoys themselves.

"I have been doing this since 2004.

"I really enjoy it - it's good for the area.

"I would like to see more people coming along and joining in with the festive fun."

The dash sees runners dressed in Santa outfits and beards, or other festive costumes, going from the Waterfront to the Esplanade buoy and back.

It starts at 12.30pm on Sunday December 9 at the Waterfront Leisure Centre car park.

Tommy added: "I've ordered trophies for the winners and there will also be a buffet afterwards.

"I also have goodie bags for kids who must be accompanied by an adult and everyone will receive a medal."

Entry costs £10 for adults who come dressed up, while it is £15 for those who require a Santa costume and the money will be donated to charity.

Tommy said: "I've only got about 40 Santa costumes so it would be great if people come in their own costumes if they can."

Children and prams go free and entry forms can be picked up from all sports centres.

People can also enter the Dash on the day as long as they arrive in plenty of time.
