A NEW school library is 'fully booked' thanks to a kind donation from a Gourock based company.

The pupils at St Ninian's Primary have begun a new chapter in their learning after receiving a £1,000 donation from the Amazon centre to buy books for their new library.

Teacher Judith Erskine says the generous donation will make a huge difference to the children's education.

She said: "We have avid young readers here who I know will be glad of the new offerings from the school library.

"Both staff and pupils would like to take the opportunity to say a big thank you to Gavin Morrison and his Amazon team for this kind donation, which will be put to excellent use for years to come."

The pupils wrote to Amazon as part of a letter-writing competition to ask for some books for the new library.

The Gourock team responded with the donation, providing lots of new reading material for the school’s enthusiastic young readers.

Amazon Gourock general manager Gavin said: "It’s great to be able to help the local community and when we heard St Ninian’s was making improvements to the library, we wanted to lend a helping hand.

"The new facilities are brilliant and we’re happy to encourage children to keep developing their reading skills."

The new £9.2m St Ninian's Primary opened in August boasting state-of-the-art facilities.
