FESTIVE fun runners are gearing up for this year's Jingle Bell Jog in aid of Ardgowan Hospice.

Hospice staff got into the Christmas spirit early by donning tinsel and jumpers for the launch of this year's race.

Even Santa made an appearance to visit patients at the day hospice.

The 3k walk, run or jog along the Esplanade takes place on December 2.

Alex Mula, of the hospice, said: "It's a good way to get into the festive spirit.

"The Jingle Bell Jog raised more than £3,000 last year and we're hoping to smash that target in 2018."

Local businesses supporting the event include Specsavers in Greenock, who are offering a voucher for a pair of designer glasses worth up to £150 for the top fundraiser and sponsoring the finishers' medals.

The Royal West of Scotland Amateur Boat Club, Funworld, Golden Casket, Sainsbury's and Laser Matrix are also backing it.

Alex said: "We are delighted that we have had so much support from our local corporate partners.

"Last year the event was a great success and the joggers raised thousands of pounds to help support patient care.

"We’re hoping for the same result this year and the Esplanade will be transformed by all the joggers having some festive fun and exercise and all for charity. “

The fun starts at the Royal West of Scotland Boat Club at 11am and registration is now open at the www.ardgowanhospice.org.uk webpage.

All entrants are encouraged to raise a suggested minimum of £30 per person on top of the registration free, which will cover the cost of the event.

Every £30 raised means Ardgowan Hospice can offer two sessions bereaved child or young person.
