A MAN was rushed to hospital after a knife attack in Greenock last night.
The 45-year-old was seriously assaulted on Belville Street at around 9.20pm.
Police say he sustained injuries to the back of his head and hand.
He was taken to Inverclyde Royal and received stitches.
Detective Inspector David Wagstaff, of Greenock CID, said: "It looks like he's been hit with some form of bladed weapon.
"If anyone knows anything or if there are any witnesses, please get in touch."
Police believe the incident happened either inside or near to the communal close at 67 Belville Street.
There is currently no description of the attacker.
