A GOUROCK high school has been ranked among the top 50 secondaries in Scotland.
Clydeview Academy has made it onto the list of best-performing state-funded institutions at number 33.
The league table is based on pupils' performance in exams.
According to the latest results, 79 per cent of Clydeview students gained five or more National 5 awards, half of those sitting highers achieved at least five passes and 13 per cent earned a minimum of two advanced highers.
Councillor Jim Clocherty, Inverclyde Council's education and communities convener, said: "It is welcome news that the strong performance of Clydeview Academy has once again been recognised nationally. "We are proud of their achievement and of all of our schools in Inverclyde. "Education in Inverclyde has gone from strength to strength in recent years. "Our school exam performance has achieved record performances. "Just this year the percentage of S5 pupils gaining five or more higher awards was the highest ever right across Inverclyde. "I'd like to congratulate the staff, pupils and parents at Clydeview for continuing again to be among the top performing schools in the country."
The school has slipped a place from number 32 in 2017, but comfortably maintained its place among the elite secondaries in Scotland.
Jordanhill School in Glasgow, which is directly funded by the Scottish Government, remains in top spot.
