POLICE are investigating after a man was seriously assaulted in Greenock last night.
It is believed the attac happened at about 9.40pm last night within a flat in Mearns Street.
The 27-year-old victim was rushed to Inverclyde Royal Hospital for treatment before being released.
Detective Constable Brian Connelly of Greenock CID said: “There was a serious assault, possibly within a flat, in Mearns Street.
“A 27-year-old male received a head injury.
“He was possibly hit over the head with a blunt object.
“He was taken to the IRH before being released.”
