DETECTIVES are appealing for information after a man turned up at a Greenock shop in the middle of the afternoon with a mystery head wound.

The 41-year-old, who was with a female, went int the Co-op in Eldon Street on Saturday at about 2.30pm.

Detective Constable Brian Connelly of Greenock CID says officer are trying to re-trace his steps to find out what happened.

He said: “A male turned up at the Co-op in Eldon Street with a head wound.

“We don’t know what happened.

“We can see from CCTV that the male, who was with a female, walked from the direction of South Street.

“It’s not clear how he got his injury so we are appealing for witnesses to come forward.”

The man was taken to hospital for treatment.
