STARS aplenty were on show yesterday for the first performance of the St Mary's Primary School annual nativity play.

Pint-sized P1 and P2 performers took to the stage in front of their fellow pupils at a colourful dress rehearsal — and their debut was nothing short of stellar.

The children will be doing it all twice again today for their proud parents and families.

Teacher Rachel Mahon — who is co-directing the production with colleague Audrey Grant — said: "The cast has been rehearsing for the last few weeks and they are so excited about doing it in front of live audiences.

"It's a nativity with a bit of a twist this year as it's about a 'curious sheep' who sees everything going on.

"There are a few really good solo performances as well and it's a great show which I'm surely will be thoroughly enjoyed by everyone."

P1 pupil Frances McFadden has the starring role of the curious sheep.

She and her fellow cast members are sure to light up the stage as St Mary's is magically transformed into Bethlehem for the re-telling of the famous story of the birth of the baby Jesus.
