A FESTIVE church fete got everyone in the Christmas spirit and helped to raise more than £1,300.

St Margaret's in Finch Road hailed the event as a great success.

Santa visited to see all the stalls and try some super home baking.

There were faces old and new - including Reverend Morris Coull, who recently retired as minister, and a warm welcome for Reverend Eileen Manson, who celebrated communion at the morning service.

Diane Sweeney, an elder in the church said: "It went very well and money is still coming in.

"Our former minister Morris Coull and his family also paid us a visit with his family.

"It was also so lovely to have Reverend Manson back in the arms of the St Margaret's congregation.

"The fete was very successful, this was a lot of money for our congregation."

Sunday school teacher and elder Moira Hellyer organised the event.

There were crafts, books and home made Christmas decorations for people to browse.

All money raised on the day will go towards church funds.

Diane said: "We're a close-knit congregation and there will be a warm welcome to anyone who would like to come along to the church."
