ALL the magic of Christmas was brought to life at a Port primary as hundreds of people gathered for their festive fayre.

Long queues formed outside Newark Primary School for the school's big event.

Janitor Paul Fulton, who has worked at the school for 10 years, says it is the busiest he's ever seen it.

He said: "I put out about 24 tables and there was also coffee and tea served in the canteen.

"It was a really big turnout."

Pupils from every class in the school worked tirelessly to create goodies such as reindeer dust to sell at the event, while a collection was also taken for Inverclyde Foodbank.

Eleven-year-old Hannah Rooney, who is in the P7b class, said: "We have made lots of Christmas stuff and some of the money will be given away to charity."

Kim Holden, P7b class teacher, said the children put a lot of time and effort into planning the fayre.

She said: "The pupils were in charge of their stalls, they had full responsibility.

"Everything for sale was made by the children."

Karin Low, P2a teacher, says the pupils will also benefit from the proceeds raised.

She said: "This is us trying to raise money for school funds.

"All the children across the school create different things - it's their own work."
