A FANTASTIC festive dinner dance has raised almost £10,000 for a much-loved Inverclyde care home.

The annual Little Sisters of the Poor Christmas Ball took place in Greenock Town Hall in aid of the Union Street charity.

The event included a delicious three-course meal, live music from local ceilidh band Flung Aboot and various raffles and auctions.

Items up for grabs included signed portraits of Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers, Hoops and Scotland star Kieran Tierney and Rangers boss and former Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard.

A total of £9,820 was raised.

Christine Bills, who helps organise the annual extravaganza, said: "The ball committee would like to thank our sponsors, advertisers, local businesses, Tony and Kyla Buckley, and to all who contributed on the night and all who have supported and come along over the last 16 tears."

The night began with a champagne reception before guests were seated to tuck into a sumptuous dinner.

The auction was conducted by Brian Clements, of McTear's Auctioneers, with fantastic lots from the likes of Mar Hall, Clydeside Distillery and the sought-after signed football prints.

There were also spot prizes, a silent auction, lucky crackers and a raffle, with all tables winning something.

Greenock's own Flung Aboot then took the stage, performing into the wee small hours and ensuring a packed dancefloor.

The festive ball is regarded as the unofficial start to Christmas in Inverclyde, with people out in force once again to raise a huge amount for the care home.
