MORTON manager Jonatan Johansson and his TV presenter wife Jean helped celebrate Christmas with 40 special guests from the club's charitable arm.

The Ton community trust held its annual 'festive friends' dinner at Cappielow for older people involved in some of their various projects.

Participants from the successful Football Memories programme, run in partnership with Alzheimer Scotland, were there along with residents from Newark and Balclutha care homes, and elderly River Clyde Homes customers.

They enjoyed a delicious three-course meal made by Craigend Resource Centre and served by staff from Greenock Morton Community Trust (GMCT).

There was festive music and even some karaoke to keep everyone entertained.

The dinner was organised by the Ton trust and funded by the SPFL Trust.

Brian McLaughlin, chief executive of the club's community arm, said: "The idea is that people are not eating alone at Christmas and it's a social occasion to get them out, get talking to other people, enjoy a nice, hot meal and have a good day out.

"We're delighted that the Morton manager and his wife came along as well to make it even more special."

The event rounded off another busy and successful year for the Ton trust and the array of community engagement projects staff and volunteers organise for people of all ages across Inverclyde.

Brian said: "It's a positive thing for the community and a nice way to end the year.

"For us, it allows us to invite more people to the stadium and help them celebrate Christmas.

"This is our last event of 2018 after what has been another busy and successful year for everyone associated with Morton in the Community.

"We'd like to wish everyone a very happy Christmas."
