THE new look Baker Street has opened in time for Christmas.
Motorists had their first chance to drive up and down one of Greenock's busiest routes for the first time on Friday since it closed in September to allow the £3m redevelopment to take place.
The proposed realignment of Baker Street between Ingleston Street and Drumfrochar Road, is designed to improve sightlines for drivers and make it easier for pedestrians to walk.
Buildings at the east end of Drumfrochar Road have also been demolished and there are improvements to the traffic light junction at Baker Street and Ingleston Street, including recalculating signal timings.
Temporary traffic lights are back on for now and the full scheme is due to be completed by the spring.
The project was led by Inverclyde Council with extra funding from Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT).
