A DETERMINED Greenock supermarket worker says her glass is half full after she raised money for Ardgowan Hospice in memory of two loved ones.

Lynn Bleasdale, who works at the checkouts in Greenock's Tesco, raised over £600 for the charity after giving up alcohol for a month in the 'Aff It for Ardgowan' challenge.

The 51-year-old of Poplar Street, who is mum to Aidan, 11, and Lewis, 14, says she feels 'brilliant' and has raised £624.

Lynn said: "I'm overwhelmed by the support I've received from my friends and work colleagues.

"My aim was to raise £300 but then the money came pouring in.

"It's brilliant because I wanted to do it in memory of my friend and family relative.

"I gave up the wee glass of wine I would have at the weekend.

"I feel brilliant, I have lost half a stone."

Lynn says she thinks the hospice is such an important asset to Inverclyde.

She said: "The hospice is absolutely tremendous.

"I want to thank everybody for being so kind and generous.

"I'm totally overwhelmed by the amount of money I received."

Andy Wilson, who is the store manager, is impressed by Lynn's fundraising and says Tesco will donate a further 20 per cent on top of what she raised.

He said: "She has done a fantastic job.

"The amount of sponsorship she got was brilliant.

"Lots and lots of her colleagues supported her."

Chris Morton, a fundraising assistant at Ardgowan Hospice, thanked Lynn.

He said: “We’re over the moon with Lynn’s ‘Aff It’ efforts.

"Lynn has been a great inspiration and some of the hospice team will be following in her footsteps this January."

The hospice is encouraging everyone to take part in 'Aff It for Ardgowan'.
