PUB bosses are serving up a big £150,000 revamp of a central Greenock bar.

The Argyll & Sutherland is undergoing a huge makeover ahead of a scheduled reopening in March.

It comes after the Bruce Street pub shut down suddenly in September last year.

The premises is owned by pub chain Punch Taverns and the company has set aside a six figure sum to transform the bar and dining area inside.

Officials are now on the lookout for a new tenant to take over the lease.

Paul Pavli, managing director of Punch Taverns, said: "The Argyll & Sutherland pub has been closed since September 2018, however we remain committed to the pub's long term success and are due to complete a £150k investment which will breathe new life into this much loved pub. "Our teams are actively recruiting for a new publican and our plan is to relaunch in March. "The pub will have a brand new look and will reopen with a fantastic food and drink offer focussing on bringing the pub back to the heart of the community. "Any interest can be registered with us at www.punchtaverns.com."

The September closure was the second time the Argyll had shut in as many years.

Last orders were called suddenly at the end of February 2016, although the bar reopened a short time later following a refurbishment.

The pub features a dining area big enough for 60 covers, a bar, kitchen, car park and beer garden.
