A GREENOCK pub that closed down suddenly last month has been put up for sale.

The owners of the Thistle Bar have put the Lynedoch Street premises on the market for offers in the region of £69,000.

It shut on December 16 after the previous tenants decided to give up the lease.

Formerly the Lynedoch Bar, the pub has enjoyed a turnaround in fortunes in recent years under the former operators, who took over in 2015, with a new name and a makeover.

Following their departure, the premises is now up for sale.

In a message to customers, they said: "As we close the doors on the Thistle Bar after deciding to move onto pastures new, we would just like to say a massive thank you to our amazing customers over the past three years.

"You made our wee local bar into something a bit special and we will always be very grateful for your custom and friendship.

"We will never forget you."

The pub is being marketed by Greenock estate agents BestMove, which is a division of Blair & Bryden.

It's described as an 'established public house' and a good 'investment opportunity'.

As well as the main bar area, there are some booths, a raised area with a pool table and a cellar.

In a statement, the estate agents said: "An opportunity has arisen to own 'your own' bar. "The centrally located Thistle Bar has been refurbished throughout including electrics, heating, booths, flooring and toilets.

"There is also CCTV and electric shutters.

"The bar is a popular destination for a wide variety of clientele whether that be for the varied sports that are shown on the TV or a quiet drink."
