SOFA seller ScS is to refund a Port woman who turned to the Tele for help after being left with the 'wrong colour' of near £2,000 furniture.

Anne Marie Clarke had been feeling browned off with 'coffee coloured concoctions' after ordering a grey suite to match her living room decor.

She says she was in tears and sat in her kitchen over Christmas because she couldn't stand the sight of what had been delivered to her.

But now ScS — who insist that Anne Marie got what she ordered — have pledged to take away the sofa set and return the £1,749 she paid up front.

Anne Marie, 52, of South Road, said: "I'm over the moon. I'm so happy that the Tele helped me and I can't thank the paper enough.

"You are total stars.

"You have been fantastic for me and I'm just so happy.

"It's amazing."

Anne Marie feared she'd be stuck with the three-seater and two-seater sofas after ScS told her that there had been no mistake with the order.

But the company has now decided to make a 'goodwill gesture' whilst still maintaining that the two-tone brown couches ARE grey.

An ScS spokeswoman said: "The colour swatch for the sofas is called 'grey' and we are satisfied that what we provided was what Mrs Clarke ordered.

"However, as a gesture of goodwill, we will collect the items and refund her.

"We don't want to have customers who are unhappy."

Anne Marie has always maintained that a salesman she was dealing with ordered the wrong colour after speaking with her.

She said: "When I was in the shop there was a grey-coloured sofa next to the one I was interested in and I said to the chap that I wanted a two-tone grey set.

"He said that wouldn't be a problem because they were made by the same manufacturer."

Anne Marie added: "I was stressed out of my head with it all but thanks to the Tele it's all been sorted now.

"I was at the point where I couldn't sit in my living room, I just sat in the kitchen crying.

"I wasn't able to sleep at night because I thought I was going to be stuck with these sofas forever.

"I'm so relieved and glad that ScS has come to this decision.

"I can go out and buy sofas of the colour I wanted all along now."
