THE body of a man recovered from the water in Greenock has been identified.
Police carried out enquiries to establish the man’s identity and have now confirmed him as a 39-year-old local man, however, police are still looking to trace his next of kin.
He has been named locally as Robert Frizzell.
Officers were called to Customhouse Place on Wednesday at 11.35am after reports of a man being found in the water.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “He has now been identified as a 39-year-old local man and enquiries are ongoing to trace his next of kin.
“A post mortem will be carried out to establish the exact cause of death, however at this time there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.”
