THE Met Office has issued a second weather warning for Inverclyde after a morning of bad weather.

It comes after an earlier warning of ice and snow across Inverclyde this morning.

The national weather service’s second yellow “be aware” warning will come into effect at 4pm today until 11am on Wednesday.

The Met Office said: “Ice will form on some surfaces later Tuesday and overnight into Wednesday, with further wintry showers at times.

"Further wintry showers this afternoon & overnight across western & northern Scotland bring a risk of ice and some snow accumulations .

“Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces should be expected, as should ice on some roads, pavements and cycle paths.”

Glasgow’s motorway network experienced travel chaos this morning, with drivers on the M77, M74 and M8 all reporting delays due to heavy snow.

Flights at Glasgow Airport were also suspended for a short period of time while the runway was cleared.
