A SENSATIONAL young singer was 'practically perfect in every way' after winning a major trophy at the Inverclyde Music Festival.

Ten-year-old Stella MacEachran blew away the adjudicators with her rendition of 'Chim Chim Cheree' from the hit Disney film Mary Poppins.

Stella, a pupil at Kilmacolm Primary, won the vocal solo - songs from musicals/Disney film - contest for pupils in P6 and under.

She said: "It feels really good to win.

"It was really nerve wracking and I had butterflies in my stomach.

"I practice every Monday night at the RSNO and my mum helps me too."

Stella's mum Fiona says she is very proud of her talented daughter.

She tol the Telegraph: "Stella works really hard so I'm really pleased for her."

Another singing star at the festival was Aileymill Primary pupil Bethany McNulty who picked up a string of awards.

Her mum Kirsty McNulty said: "Bethany was second for her vocal solo and the solo singing from musical competitions.

"In between her two solos she also competed with her country dance group and performed with the choir and then we were back again for country dancing.

"She really enjoys the competition.

"The festival encourages the children and it's good to see everybody come together from all the schools and all the different ages.

"There's a really wide choice of activities going on."
