A MAN has undergone surgery after being attacked in the west end of Greenock this morning.
The 39-year-old was assaulted within a property in Brisbane Street at 6am with the attack continuing outside.
He was taken by ambulance to Inverclyde Royal where he is being treated.
Detective Sergeant Stuart Young, of Greenock CID, said: "Police attended a disturbance just before 6am this morning. The injured male sustained injuries to his face and arm and attended IRH for treatment. He has undergone surgery."
Detectives are treating the incident as a serious assault.
They say they are following a positive line of inquiry.
