A 'SWEET' new takeaway service has arrived in Inverclyde - delivering sugary treats straight to people's doorsteps.

Megan Scott and her partner Chloe Farmer, from Greenock, are delivering 1kg boxes packed with pick ‘n mix sugary treats.

Chloe, 20, says their Sugar Rush Confectionery franchise, which serves Greenock, Port Glasgow and Gourock, is proving popular.

She said: "When we deliver them to people it's lovely.

"It brings back happy memories.

"One of the customers was so pleased to see white mice as he said he hadn't seen them in years.

"So it's about spreading happiness.

"I like giving people a reason to smile."

Megan, 20, said their pre-sealed boxes, which contain chocolate, jelly, novelty, fizzy, chewy and foam sweets, are a real hit with customers.

She said: "Think about a quiet Saturday night in when you've had a glass of wine, you've got a film on and you fancy some sweets.

"You're not able to drive to the supermarket So we can deliver sweets to your doorstep - it's a takeaway with a twist.

"It's also great for events such as birthday parties and communions as it means people don't have to rush about.

"We do it all."

The couple have managed to set up their franchise whilst juggling work and study commitments.

Chloe is a full-time psychology student at Glasgow Caledonian University while Megan is about to start a new job as a care co-ordinator.

Megan is originally from Somerset but moved to Greenock last year after meeting Chloe.

She says the business has helped her settle in to her new home.

She said: "I have only been here for a short time but I'm getting to know the community which is great."
